Cub Scout Pack 685 Egg Drop Event School Night to Join Cub Scouting

Inviting all Boys from K – 5 grade for a fun Cub Scout kick-off for re-forming the Pack on Wednesday August 26. We will meet at 6:45 pm in Liguori Hall. It’s going to be “eggs away” as the scouts launch their egg and container over the balcony behind SGM, at the US map area near the kindergarten rooms. There will also be an opening Flag Ceremony with the Scout Oath, Law and Cub Scout Prayer.

Will a raw egg survive the plunge over the second story balcony? Design a container at home with an empty ‘egg’ compartment and bring to the Egg Drop. Put your name on the container. Eggs will be provided at the event. Originality and creativity are appreciated. But your design does need to follow these guidelines:

  • Design cannot involve liquids, helium, other lighter than air gases or glass.

  • Weight cannot exceed three pounds.

  • Egg “compartment” cannot exceed two feet in length or width. Winged designs need to fall within this dimension.

  • You must be able to place your egg into your container just prior to your drop. We will provide each entry with a grade A chicken egg!

  • Use of parachutes are allowed but the chute must deploy itself after the container is dropped

Other ideas are available on the web.

Recognition per Grade level for a successful drop and the most creative design will be made at the Initial Pack Meeting on September 8 in Ligouri Hall.

This is designed to be a fun event for your son and family. Siblings are welcome to join in the egg drop too!

If you haven’t completed an application to join scouting, stop by the information table in Ligouri to complete an application. Cost is $65 per boy and $45 per Adult to join.
