The reader is the proclaimer of the Word - the Old and New Testament readings that give meaning to our lives.  An ability to speak clearly and distinctly and a love of the Word of God are the requirements for this ministry.

Sacred Music is an elevated form of prayer that brings voices into union so that minds and hearts may also be united. When there is music at Mass, it should accompany the actions and words of the priest, highlighting the themes of the particular Sunday or Feast we celebrate.  Sacred Music expresses the truths of the Sacrament and Sacrifice of the Mass, which are already present but made more glorious to our senses.

St. Gerard Majella’s Adoration Chapel offers an opportunity for quiet prayer and reflection with Our Lord exposed in the Blessed Sacrament.  Spiritual reading materials, rosaries, and the petition book are available as guides for our parish prayer. Everyone in the parish community is encouraged to stop by “for a visit” with Our Lord at any time.

The chapel is adjacent to the Narthex and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  A security code is necessary to gain entrance between 10 pm and 6 am.

Those who serve in this ministry have the privilege of sharing the Body and Blood of Christ with each of us.  Ministers are needed at Masses, in hospitals, nursing homes, and to visit the shut-ins of our parish family.

Altar servers have a special role in the celebration of the Mass, assisting the priest and helping the whole parish community enter more deeply into prayer and worship. By serving at the altar, young people grow in their love for the Eucharist, learn the beauty of the liturgy, and discover the joy of offering their gifts in service to God and the Church.

Our parish welcomes boys and girls in 5th grade and up to become parish altar servers. Training is provided, and new servers are typically paired with experienced ones until they feel confident in their duties. Serving at Mass is a wonderful way to participate more fully in the life of the Church, build friendships, and grow in faith.

We offer Children's Liturgy of the Word during the 9:00 am Sunday Mass.  Three to seven-year-olds are invited to join the Catechists and participate in the gospel reading and an age appropriate discussion of its message in a small group setting.  

Interested in helping?  We need 3-4 volunteers each time we do this due to the number of children involved.  You must be fully compliant in Prevent and Protect to volunteer.
