Music Minsitries
Adult Choir
The Choir at SGM is an active and thriving group of singers from teens to adults who sing many different styles of music. From gospel and contemporary to sacred hymn and chants, they sing at the 9:00am Mass as well as special Holy Days and liturgical feasts. No auditions are necessary; just a willingness to be part of the sung prayer of the Mass. The ability to sing "in parts" is helpful. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings.
Cantors
Those who help us worship by prayerfully leading the singing at the 5:00pm Mass on Saturday and the 9:00am and 11:00am Masses on Sundays are the cornerstone of our music ministry. The commitment is minimal (once every 6 - 8 weeks) but so appreciated. Rehersals are held the week before the assigned Mass..
The 11:00 Mass Music Team
This music ensemble is composed of teens and adults who provide music for the 11:00am Sunday liturgy. Instruments and vocal talents are welcome to enhance the spirited prayer of this lively group. Rehearsals take place on Sunday mornings before Mass.
Resurrection Choir
The Resurrection Choir at SGM is a group of men and women who minister to grieving families through the gift of music. Members attend funerals and memorial Masses as their schedule permits, usually during the weekday morning hours. They gather about 15 minutes before the funeral Mass to go over the selected hymns.
Cherub Choir
This is for children grades K-2. They sing for the pre-school prayer services, and combined with the Children's Choir on special occasions such as Christmas Eve and Palm Sunday. Their rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons from 2:00pm - 2:30pm, beginning in November until Christmas. Then we break until Lent when we start practice again March 13th to prepare for Palm Sunday (April 10).
Children's Praise
This group is open to all children in grades 3-5 who like to sing. They have one Saturday afternoon rehearsal an hour before the assigned 5:00pm Mass once ever 4-6 weeks. It's an easy time commitment, and a joyous way to praise God with friends!
Young Cantors
For our more advanced singers in grades 6-8, we offer the opportunity to cantor every couple of months at a weekend Mass during the school year. Rehearsals are held as needed (generally 3 times before a scheduled Mass); PSR students, SGM full-time school students and home schoolers are welcome to join us any time.
Instrumentalists
We welcome all who play an instrument and are willing to share their talents with us! We'll work with your schedule, and every Mass is open for you to share your gift.
