Our parish is shocked and devastated by the shootings at the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School earlier this week. Many parishioners have already brought up connections with this community, and it clearly hits us close to home not only geographically, but emotionally. The sad truth is, however, we seem to become less and less shocked and saddened each time we hear of a tragic attack like this. The continual presence of violence in our communities can certainly numb us to the true shock and mourning that we are called to have.
Please continue to pray for a greater respect for human life at all stages, for consolation and peace for everyone affected by the shooting, and guidance for responsible steps to take in addressing mental health and gun violence in our community.
