As winter approaches, please think about the needy who have no winter coats, gloves/mittens, hats, and scarves to keep warm. The need is even greater this winter due to many family hardships brought on by the COVID19 Pandemic. Notice for All Volunteers and Employees Who Work with Minors and/or Vulnerable Adults
All individuals who volunteer or work with minors and/or vulnerable adults must register themselves in the new program, Prevent and Protect regardless of previous compliance (before 2020).  There is a final deadline for compliance on December 31st, 2020.  The parish has agreed to pick up the cost of background checks through the deadline ONLY as the cost increases after this date.  As of January 1st, ALL individuals who wish to volunteer or work with minors and/or vulnerable adults must be fully compliant in Prevent and Protect.     Some ...

Our New Ciboria

Our New Ciboria
A ciborium is a covered vessel used to hold the Eucharist (consecrated small Hosts), thus the counterpart to the chalice.  It is similar to a chalice but covered and larger; usually with a small Cross attached on the top. It is made of various precious metals, and the interior is commonly gold or gold-plated. The ciboria formerly used at SGM, which are flat roundish bowls, were donated to all the parishes of the Archdiocese after the Papal visit in 1999. Next weekend, September 12/13, is our regular Give A Meal A Month Collection. This month’s menu is tuna, Tuna Helper or mushroom soup & noodles, green beans and pears. The optional item is deodorant. If you don’t have time to shop, purchase a TWB gift card for Walmart. They come in $10, $25, $50 and $100 denomination. Give the gift card to the Give A Meal A Month Program and the food pantry will use it to buy what is needed for their community. Monthly Evening Vespers will be offered September 16 at 7:00 pm in the church. Following Vespers, our speaker will be parishioner Lynn Grigone sharing her experience on the El Camino, the famed pilgrimage trail in France and Spain.
