Wow! It is difficult to believe that we are almost a month into the school year. The faculty and students have surely been busy getting acclimated to their new year. Each month, the school community focuses on a different virtue. Virtues are
good habits and in Latin, it means strength. We work on these virtues/good habits to help us become closer to God and to reflect on how we live our lives. This school year we are working on the general virtue of FAITH, believing in God and all He has revealed. With each virtue, the students also learn about various saints that have lived their life in that virtuous way. This month we focus on St. Martha, St. Jerome, and St. Augustine. In this year of FAITH, we are called to renew and develop the use of Catholic devotions such as Eucharistic Adoration, the Rosary, or the Stations of the Cross as well as the opportunity to expand Catholic ministries and service projects.
Besides our day-to-day learning at school, we have celebrated other important events so far this school year:
- On the first day of school, Fr. Grosch led a Eucharistic Procession through the school while students lined the hallways in prayer.
- The 4th grade students celebrated the Bible Blessing Mass where they received their Bibles that they will use for their religious studies through 8th grade.
- Student Council is preparing for homeroom representative elections.
- K-8 students gathered in Faith Families. We will meet once a month with our ‘family’ to
- build community.
- The 8th graders are participating in Cotillion alongside with St. Peter’s 8th grade class.
- Our students are preparing for Standardized Testing during the week of September 18-22.
We are in search of a long-term 5th grade substitute teacher this year. The position would be from mid-November to mid-February. If you or someone you know would be interested in this position, please reach out to school or send resumes to lgintz@sgmschool.org. We are enjoying the time together in study, play, and prayer. Thank you for your continued support of SGM School.
