Elementary School Assistance
The Annual Catholic Appeal Elementary School Grant of $2 million supports schools in economically depressed areas with needed funds. The grants to each school foster student success in ways that otherwise would not be possible, while also alleviating the parish subsidy in financially strained parishes. Here are three examples of these schools:
- St. Louis Catholic Academy (SLCA) offers a safe and thriving environment for students to learn and grow. Located in a recently renovated building in the north city, SLCA seeks to build character, responsibility, and moral decision-making in addition to providing a quality education with state-of-the-art methods. The students are bright, engaged, enthusiastic, and ready to learn.
- Blessed Teresa of Calcutta School (BTC), located in Ferguson, focuses on developing the unique potential of every child, building spiritual, social, and intellectual talents. Teachers provide individual education plans to prepare each student for the rigor of high school. BTC is centered around service beginning in preschool so that students may grow to be servants of Christ throughout their lives.
- St. Cecilia School & Academy seeks to put Gospel values into action. The school is located near the Dutchtown Neighborhood of South St. Louis. The challenging and comprehensive curriculum the school provides is important for the individual dignity of each child’s life, but also for society in promoting peace and justice. The development of a well-balanced person taught at St. Cecilia effectively helps the whole community.
These Annual Catholic Appeal grants maintain school viability and help weather short-term financial issues. This essential funding helps ensure the availability of quality Catholic education to every child.
