Our team at Hands of Christ Missions is finishing our first Micro-Business for the girls in Guatemala. Special thanks to the Holy Spirit for inspiring Tim Turek, Marilyn Schoolman, Michael Stalka, the Women’s ACTs team, and many others for their hands-on efforts. Many thanks to the generous donors that made this project possible. Many thanks to Fr. Grosch and Fr. Seper for their spiritual support. Fr. Grosch will be blessing the business, followed by an open house on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 6:30pm till dark. All are welcome to see our parish project that will encourage young girls to pursue a small business as a path forward.
There are 22 girls from Hands of Compassion Children’s Home in Guatemala, undergoing soap making training provided by Guatemala’s university, promoting small business careers. Hands of Christ Missions here at St. Gerard has converted a 20’ shipping container into a self-contained micro soap factory that will allow a small group of girls to build a business that they will eventually own. Hands of Christ Missions will continue building other businesses that the remaining girls will go on to operate and eventually own. This program of Micro-Businesses is filling a need for young teenage girls to learn, operate and own a small business, thus giving them a vision and a hope for their futures.
Our next project will be a medical clinic providing medical care for the children, parents, volunteers, and mission groups that spend time in Guatemala building the Holy Spirit’s vision of the Kingdom of God here on Earth, as it is in Heaven. We are currently looking for a location to build our next project. For questions, a desire to help, donations, etc. please contact Steve Long at steve.long@onespiritengineering.org
