Dear St. Gerard Majella Families,
I was recently notified that a second member of our parish community has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. This parishioner has not been on the St. Gerard Majella campus in more than one month – longer than the time period through which health officials say a person can carry the virus without showing symptoms.
Our prayers are with this parishioner for a quick recovery. This continues to be a difficult time, but let us remember to abide in God’s love, trust in His plan, and take to heart the words given to us by Saint Pope John Paul II, “Be Not Afraid!”.
As a reminder, we have regular professional cleanings at the parish, and we continue to work with the Archdiocese of St. Louis to ensure we are following all directives and guidelines from government and health officials. Let me know if I can be of any assistance to you or if you have further questions. You may also find updates and resources from the Archdiocese of St. Louis regarding COVID-19 at ArchSTL.org/coronavirus, and you can see many messages of hope from my brother priests throughout the archdiocese at ArchSTL.org/be-not-afraid.
Please keep all of our parish families in your prayers as we continue through the coming weeks, and I look forward to the day where we can all be together again celebrating Mass and God’s blessings at St. Gerard.
Sincerely,
Fr. David Skillman
