Lent Evening Vespers and Speaker

March 9: Fr. Cassian Koenemann

Each Monday during Lent, Evening Vespers will be offered at 7:00, followed by a speaker – see the list of speakers and topics elsewhere in this bulletin. Our speaker this week is Fr. Cassian Koenemann, OSB, a monk, priest, and the Prior of Saint Louis Abbey, with a presentation titled “The Grace of Nothingness”.

Fr. Cassian Koenemann, OSB brings a monk’s single-mindedness to the lover’s pursuit of the Beloved. He has need of this kind of focus in a life that juggles teaching, advising teens, looking after the infirm members of the Saint Louis Abbey, cooking, offering the sacraments to parishioners, praying four hours per day, recreating and socializing with friends and fellow monks.

This monk’s single-mindedness has taught him to integrate this practice into a busy and varied life, and he will share with us how this kind of humility will help us find a way to enjoy God’s mercy at a deeper level.
