Affordable Housing Fund
Archbishop Rozanski identifies affordable housing as a priority for the St. Louis region. The Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) Affordable Housing Fund directly addresses this pressing need by expanding access to safe, permanent, and affordable housing for individuals and families.
In 2024, eight agencies received ACA grants to help provide more safe, permanent, and affordable housing and more grants will be awarded this year.
St. Joseph Housing Initiative (SJHI) is one example of the program’s success and potential. Working mainly in the Dutchtown neighborhood of South St. Louis, SJHI renovates dilapidated houses, creating attractive, comfortable, and affordable homes. SJHI also helps clients learn the life skills necessary to become long-term homeowners.
Other grant recipients include Assisi House, Catholic Charities’ housing project in Troy, St. Patrick Center of Catholic Charities, Peter & Paul Community Services, Room at the Inn, and the Care Service at Sts. Joachim and Ann. These agencies are working to help break the life cycle of homelessness by providing necessary housing, creating hope for brighter futures for families.
