- Our Track & Field program gives children who enjoy running and field events an opportunity to develop their skills while being part of a team. Children from 1st grade through 8th grade practice from March until mid-May usually two or three times a week at a nearby track.
- The children get an opportunity to try various Track & Field events depending on their age: 50M Dash, 100M Dash, 200M Dash, 400M Dash, 800M, 1600M, 400 Meter Relay (4 x 100), 800M Relay (4 x 200), high jump, running long jump, standing long jump, shot put. Practices involve children and coaches from St. Gerard, St. Peter, St. Genevieve, and St. Clement.
- The St. Peter Track Meet takes place on a Saturday or Sunday at the end of April with the children of St. Peter, St. Gerard, and a couple other surrounding parishes participating in the meet.
- Our season finishes with a CYC Meet at a high school track on a Saturday in early May. SGM competes against children from many other St. Louis area parishes. The CYC Finals Meet will be held on a Saturday in mid-May for those who qualify.
The SGM Majella Club provides a track dri-fit type t-shirt for all Track & Field participants that they keep at the end of the season. The athletes have an option to purchase matching shorts or they can wear black or green shorts.
A parent (or another adult) is required to help at the St. Peter Meet and CYC Meet. Below is a list of tasks:
