GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Our Track & Field program gives children who enjoy running and field events an opportunity to develop their skills while being part of a team. Children practice from March until mid-May, we practice twice per week.
  • The children get an opportunity to try various Track & Field events depending on their age: 50M Dash, 100M Dash, 200M Dash, 400M Dash, 800M, 1600M, 400 Meter Relay (4 x 100), 800M Relay (4 x 200), high jump, running long jump, standing long jump, shot put.
  • We will have one preliminary meet held on a Saturday to qualify for finals. It will be against children from many other St. Louis area parishes. The CYC Finals Meet will be held on a Saturday in late-May for those who qualify.

UNIFORMS

The SGM Majella Club provides a dri-fit type (tank / singlet) for all Track & Field participants that they keep at the end of the season. The athletes can wear black or green shorts.

PARENT PARTICIPATION

A parent (or guardian) is REQUIRED to volunteer at the meets (Prelims / Finals). CYC states the number of parent volunteers from each team 1-2 weeks prior to each meet.

All parents (or guardians) are encouraged to volunteer in our track program as a coach or practice/game helper, or party organizer. It is a major help to the program if you are able to simply point the kids in the right direction. Please ask a Track Commissioner what you can do to help!

See the Volunteer Requirements Section if you are interested in being involved with this sport.

  • Parents with 2 + children at a meet are expected to volunteer first.
  • Shift normally last 1 hour.
  • Assignments: Field & Running Events, Concessions, Awards, SGM Team Tent.
